Pathology or Social Phenomenon?
Pedophilia was and remains an eternal phenomenon, which in a biological sense means love for children with an obvious sexual connotation. Psychiatrists distinguish between this disorder of perverts (for whom the child is the object of sexual attraction, and fear only fuels an action prohibited by law), regressive pedophiles (who have not developed a sex life in adulthood) and simply mentally underdeveloped people.
But still, many experts are convinced that pedophilia belongs to the field of psychiatry, so society needs to enroll these people in the category of mentally ill. Psychiatrists insist that all cases of pedophilia should be considered as a violation of social norms, and not as a pathology.
Is pedophilia treated?
Specialists can help pedophiles get rid of this terrible disorder with medication, provided that the patients voluntarily agree to take the course. Great experience of this kind of treatment has been accumulated in Germany. Treatment involves suppressing sex drive by lowering testosterone levels in the blood. In some cases, it is possible to achieve complete suppression of such an attraction, this method is called "medical castration".

Experts believe it is difficult to track down a pedophile. Often they are married people who have their own children. Pedophiles are people beyond suspicion. Their addictions absolutely do not prevent them from getting along in society. Pedophiles are found in various fields, but they prefer work that allows contact with children. The most cautious marry divorced women with children or single mothers.
