Alcoholism takes away literally everything from people - health, joy, family happiness, turning their life into a miserable and meaningless existence. It is quite possible to wean a person from drinking, but only if he himself has such a desire.
It is necessary
- - clinic;
- - club of anonymous alcoholics.
Instructions
Step 1
Try to convince the person not to drink. Be sure to calmly, soberly and without insults talk about what the drinker misses in life. Use the example of specific people to visualize the bleak prospects of the alcoholic - illness, shorter life span, failure at work and in the family. The main thing is that the person himself realizes the reality of losses in life from alcoholism and has a firm conviction (fueled by you, your friends) in the need to quit drinking.
Step 2
Try to change the drinker's lifestyle. Quite often, the cause of alcoholism is the monotony in life and the desire to embellish it with a minimum of effort. In order for the alcohol addict to have a desire to quit drinking, draw his attention to new hobbies, help to resume activities of forgotten hobbies, or attract other people to help. He should have distracting worries that generate positive emotions from the activity, giving him an opportunity for self-realization and the formation of a sense of his own relevance.
Step 3
A change of place of work and circle of acquaintances is justified if the use of alcoholic beverages is a mandatory and regular norm for comfortable business or interpersonal communication in a team.
Step 4
If an alcoholic denies his addiction or lacks determination to fight the disease, you need to pull such a person for a consultation in a specialized clinic, convincing him that this will not oblige him to anything. And it is already the task of narcologists and psychotherapists to prove to him the fact of the disease and to help him make a decision on treatment, depending on the individual characteristics of the patient.
Step 5
Arrange a visit to the Alcoholics Anonymous Club for the alcohol addict. It can also contribute to their awareness of the disease and, possibly, push them to make a decision to change their life. A similar effect can be achieved through conversion to faith, which will lead to a reassessment of their values.
Step 6
Do not in any way create favorable and provocative conditions for alcoholic drinking. Offer your help only if he takes an active part in solving his problem; otherwise, do not do his orders or work for him. Do not try to overcome drunkenness by conspiracies, the use of herbal or medicines, which in most cases, except for tangible financial costs, lost time, and in some cases, threats to the life of the drinker, do not bring the desired effect.
