Traditionally, any solemn feast, banquet or buffet reception - whether it is a celebration of a significant event or just a friendly get-together - involves the use of alcoholic beverages. But, unfortunately, not everyone knows how to drink. And in order not to commit acts in a state of alcoholic intoxication, the payment for which is a feeling of guilt corroding the body after sobering up, you need to be able to stop in time in the amount of drunk. How to do it?

Knowing of limits. Why is it not familiar to everyone

German and American psychologist of the XX century, Kurt Lewin, an outstanding and very creative figure, was extremely interested in the question: why do people in many of their actions do not know the measure? Why do athletes bring themselves to exhaustion, having already received the coveted medal, why many cannot get rid of constant overeating, smoking, alcoholism? The result of the research was the discovery of the mechanism of unfinished business. The main idea of this theory is that a person cannot stop doing something (including drinking) because he perceives this action as incomplete. Such a feeling gives rise to a huge mental tension inside a person and causes pseudo-needs.

In other words, a person has consumed a certain amount of alcohol, sufficient to feel a slight intoxication, and should stop there. But a feast involves many provoking factors that prevent a person from doing this: for example, when several more bottles of wine appear on the table or friends offer a toast to a particularly respected friend. And if the use of alcohol is not considered a complete action, then the logical end of violent libations will be a strong alcoholic intoxication with all the ensuing consequences. Excited by an unfinished situation, the brain will not allow a person to calm down.

Stop drinking alcohol. How to stop

In order to be able to stop drinking alcohol, you need to remember a few rules.

1. Determine for yourself the amount of alcohol, after the intake of which you will feel a slight intoxication. As a rule, this is 100 grams of a strong drink - vodka or cognac, or a couple of glasses of wine. Make it clear to yourself that the indicated doses of alcohol are all you can afford. There is no more alcohol for you on this holiday.

2. If you know the rules of the event where you have to drink, then stay on it for about 1 hour. This will help you skip the main drink. And a few drunken guests will no longer be interested in the fact that in your glass there is not alcohol, but soda.

3. If you want to raise glasses with everyone, but you have already taken your dose of alcohol, fill your glass with juice or mineral water.

4. If you are in the company of relatives or friends with whom you can be honest, ask them not to insist on drinking alcohol.

5. When going to a party where it will be difficult to abstain from alcohol, take with you a person who sympathizes with you in their efforts to limit alcohol intake, and whom you can ask to control your condition.

6. Do not neglect snacks: if your stomach is constantly filled with food, the craving for alcohol will not be as strong.

And, perhaps, the most important advice: if you are not sure that you can stop drinking alcohol, you do not need to drink at all. It's also a good idea to refrain from attending events where alcohol is the highlight of the program.
