Amateurs of socionics know the ways to determine the sociotype. But each method has pitfalls that are not obvious at first glance.
Method 1. Socionics tests
Works, but in a random way. By passing the test, you will recognize the sociotype. The question is whose. Maybe yours. Or maybe the sociotype of your dad, which sits in your head and dictates to you what kind of purposeful man or what kind of nice girl you should be.
The socionics test has a chance to guess the sociotype. Whether this happens or not depends on a number of factors. The main thing to know about these factors is that you do not control them.
Method 2. Self-typing
Working! But not always. Self-typing is an effective way to determine the sociotype, if you approach it wisely, namely:
- with knowledge of Jung's typology,
- with patience,
- with the ability to observe oneself and draw balanced conclusions.
Not all self-typing works. It is useless to determine the sociotype from the descriptions. The descriptions are too general, lend themselves to biased interpretation. But typing yourself through self-observation and self-reflection is a more effective exercise.
Method 3. Typing in the company of like-minded friends
Works with a creak.
Plus the company of like-minded people in the opportunity to discuss introspection, talk about socionics, keep in touch with socionic knowledge and skills. In a company, it's easier to set up experiments and discuss the results right there.
The disadvantage of typing with like-minded people is an amateurish character. Socionic get-together is, first of all, a get-together, not socionics. People speak the same language, they enjoy hanging out and chatting. Socionics is a reason to get together in a pleasant company, to spend time with pleasure.
If you like it, then yes! Do they give a result in determining the sociotype? Unfortunately no.
Method 4. Typing by a professional
The most reliable way. Provided that the professional is chosen correctly. How to choose the right professional in socionic typing is a topic for a separate article. Here I will give recommendations on where to look for a professional.
I recommend:
- School of Academic Socionics, Chelyabinsk.
- Research Institute of Socionics, Moscow.
- And any schools that stand in their socionic theory on Jung's typology.
Both schools are represented by VKontakte groups.
I do not recommend: psychosophy, psycheyoga, Reinin's signs, physiognomy. And any theories based on the Myers-Briggs questionnaire and on the rejection of socionic types in favor of socionic traits.
