Logic in socionics is one of the four socionic functions that make up the structure of a sociotype. K. G. Jung called this function "thinking" as opposed to "feeling" - ethics. Proceeding from the ordinary ideas about the dichotomy “thinking - feeling”, one can form a primary opinion about how a person of a logical type differs from a person of an ethical type.

The logician is focused on interpreting himself and the world through the prism of facts and connections between facts. A person of a logical type is not so important an emotional attitude to one or another aspect of reality, how important the fact itself is. It is also important for a logical person how this fact is interconnected with other facts. Facts, information, data act as an intrinsic value for a logician.

"Socrates is my friend, but the truth is dearer" - this statement is more logical than ethical. “There are no irreplaceable people” - this is also a logical approach to business, rather than ethical.

There are some signs by which logic can be recognized.

  • Logicians, when reasoning about something or informing the audience, do not differ in rich facial expressions. The face of the logician at these moments is calm and sometimes motionless: logicians do not shoot with their eyes, do not play with their eyebrows, do not make grimaces.
  • When the logician speaks, it is difficult to interrupt him. Even if a man-logician allowed himself to be interrupted, after that he is able to continue his thought from the point at which he was interrupted.
  • If a logician is not sure of any information, he will not deliberately think of it: either he honestly admits that he does not know; or it will try to find the missing link by logical reasoning.

One should not equate socionic logic and logic as the ability to make correct conclusions, as well as express consistent judgments. Both people of a logical type and people of an ethical type can express themselves logically. However, logicians tend to do this better than ethics.

Logic in socionics is introverted (white) and extroverted (black).

An introverted logician is interested in the relationship between facts, cause-and-effect relationships between them. An introverted logician likes to classify and compare objects and phenomena of the surrounding world with each other. For him, it is not the facts themselves that are important, but the system of facts. The white logical types in socionics include the following types: Robespierre, Maxim Gorky, Zhukov, Don Quixote.

Extraverted logic is logic of facts. Alphabetical lists, step-by-step instructions, dictionaries, encyclopedias, numbers - the element of extroverted logicians. Black-logical types in socionics include the following types: Jack London, Balzac, Stirlitz, Gaben.
