Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a disorder of the normal functioning of the central nervous system. ADHD manifests itself in problems with learning and memory due to impaired concentration functions, as well as excessive motor activity.
Causes of ADHD
Many scientists note that about 50% of cases of the disease are hereditary, however, there is currently no unambiguous theory of the etiology of ADHD. Some researchers point out that neurotransmitter dysfunction may be the cause of ADHD; dysfunction of the frontal lobe of the brain; the impact on the body of various toxic substances; gene mutations.
Types of ADHD
The following classification of ADHD is common: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder; attention deficit hyperactivity disorder; combined syndrome.
At what age do you notice ADHD?
Usually ADHD can be noticed at 4-5 years of age, before 7 years of age the symptoms already become evident. At an earlier age, they try not to make a specific diagnosis, since the symptoms can be temporary, short-lived and related to any traumatic situation in the child's family.
ADHD symptoms
The most common symptom is difficulty concentrating on one subject. Children become distracted and do more interesting things if they are given a boring task. They try to do a lot of things at once.
Hyperactivity is manifested in the fact that the child cannot sit still, he needs to constantly move and do some business. At the same time, such a phenomenon as impulsiveness is observed: the child does not think before starting to do something, he immediately tries to realize the thought that has appeared (by no means always corresponding to social norms).
