Breathing symbolizes human contact with the world. Inhale - you take from the world, exhale - you give it to it. Ideally, breathing should be even and calm: take a deep breath, exhale slowly. This speaks of the harmony of the personality. Growing up, the child learns to restrain inappropriate feelings and emotions, becomes overgrown with emotional clamps and blocks, as evidenced by shallow breathing in an older age.
Correct breathing is one of the components of a healthy psyche and body. Observe how very young children breathe: when breathing, their stomach works, it rounds on inhalation and deflates on exhalation. An adult most often breathes through the chest. This is due to the peculiarities of the psyche at different ages.
Psychologists use this knowledge to understand the client's problems. For example, if a person himself, without realizing it, inhales and holds the exhalation, or, on the contrary, “does not want” to inhale, he must be diagnosed with personal problems in communicating with people and himself.
If a person breathes evenly and calmly, his muscles are relaxed, blood vessels are moderately dilated, pressure is normal, sleep is good, physiological processes in the body are free. Such a person is healthy and happy.
Wrong breathing is another matter. The body does not have enough oxygen, blood vessels are pinched, a person may experience dizziness, cardiovascular disorders, hair loss, tremors, insomnia and many other consequences.
As breath is reflected in our body, so the processes in the body are reflected in it. Thus, through breathing, we can influence our physiology.
I want to offer you a simple breathing technique that will calm your mind and body. Take a comfortable position in silence, sitting or lying down. It is better if no one is around, so as not to disturb you. Close your eyes and mentally walk over the entire body with your inner gaze. Take a slow deep breath in through your nose and the same slow exhalation through your lips - a tube. Try to breathe out longer than the inhalation. Watch the air pass through your nostrils and fill your chest. Now deliberately direct this air into your stomach. For convenience, put your hand there: when you inhale, the stomach should be rounded like a ball, when you exhale, deflate. All your attention should be directed to sensations in the body and inhalation - exhalation.
Thus, breathe for 10-15 minutes. During this time, the body will relax, the mind will calm down, you will free yourself from unnecessary thoughts and feel a surge of strength. Practice this method every day and you will soon notice that you have become much calmer, your reactions in stressful situations will become less violent.
Breathe in joy, breathe out goodness, and be healthy.
