People tend to strive to show their individuality, to stand out with something, to seek recognition by others of their uniqueness. Recently, it has become fashionable to post on social networks and blogs, where the separation of "me and them" is visible. And, as a rule, everyone is inclined to consider themselves to stand out from the gray mass. But what is the difference between the man in the street and the extravaganza?

A layman in the broadest sense of the word is the average representative of the society of his country, who thinks like the majority, who can easily manipulate the state, corporations, colleagues and neighbors. This is someone who thinks in stereotypes, adheres to generally accepted rules and is not even able to mentally go beyond the framework.

Accordingly, a person who is not an ordinary person stands out against the background of the majority in a number of ways. And these signs can be different. Firstly, this is a person with independent thinking, who passes everything he hears through a filter and decides whether what they are trying to convey is true and correct, and whether it suits him personally. He does not follow any traditions just because it is so accepted.

The non-explorer knows what he wants and knows how to distinguish true desires from imposed ones. For example, it is considered prestigious to have a super car. A free-thinking person, before buying this car or working hard for it, will decide whether he wants to drive at all and stand in traffic jams, or whether it is more convenient for him to take a taxi. It also happens that a person does not like driving at all. If he decided - yes, the car is needed, then he will choose it based on his own needs, and not out of a desire to demonstrate to his neighbors the size of his income. An example with a car more often refers to men, and in relation to women, a similar example can be cited with the desire to have an expensive fur coat, even if a girl lives in a rather warm climate, and she does not particularly need such a product, and a high-quality beautiful down jacket often warms up just as well …

An independent-minded person will think whether he needs to drink beer on Friday after work with colleagues and, in general, whether he likes the taste of alcohol, or whether health and a fit appearance are more important to him. At the same time, he does not need the approval of the environment and does not depend on the criticism of his friends and acquaintances. He knows that when a person starts to stand out, at first they try to bring him back and make fun of him.

The townsfolk are easy to manipulate. It is easy for them to sell a new powder or medicine because such people tend to trust the media and perceive them as authoritative. It is easy for governments to control the masses by broadcasting certain TV programs, even turning peoples against each other. People in the street lack critical thinking, so they often believe in self-confident speakers or what their environment believes. It's just that it is difficult for them to go beyond this framework and ask themselves the question - how is everything in reality? They do not have healthy skepticism.

A person with an extraordinary mind does not shift the responsibility for his fate to the government, family and other factors. He tries to act as efficiently as possible to fulfill his goals. And understanding your responsibility contributes to finding non-standard and innovative ways to solve various problems.
