In 2020, many people are faced with remote work, and I have been doing this since 2017. During this time, I realized that the advice of changing into work and home clothes does not work. What then helps you stay productive? I share my secrets.

Always plan tomorrow

In the evening I know what work tasks and household chores await me tomorrow. When I lived according to the principle "I'll figure it out as I go along," I was catastrophically unable to do anything and was in constant anxiety. Planning really saves and speeds things up.

Live by the regime

Lights out and wakes up at the same time, breakfasts and lunches are also on schedule, household chores at the same time, work at a strictly allotted time. In general, my day includes work, cooking and cleaning the house, playing sports, taking care of myself + other things when they appear (I have no children). All this I distribute for the day, knowing in advance what and when I will do.

These include senseless scrolling through the feed on social networks (watching memes and videos with cats) and chatting about nothing. And also the eaters include tea drinking, smoke breaks (for those who smoke) and so on. When I want to rest, I do a warm-up or just lie in complete silence for a few minutes.

Have a rest

I try to work from Mon to Fri, and rest on Sat and Sun (this is more convenient for me), but sometimes I have to change the day off and work day or work seven days a week. The latter, of course, is not normal - you need to rest. The best rest if you are working from home is to leave home. If this is not possible, then you need to try to at least not touch at all what your work is connected with (I have it on a computer). And also on weekends I don't answer any work questions.

Remember that you can't earn all the money

At the beginning of the journey, I wanted to do as much as possible, receive and spend, receive and spend. Now I have set for myself a personal rate of income per month, week and day. Sometimes I translate this into volumes of work and focus on them. You can have your own landmark, but it must be, otherwise you will burn out in a couple of months.

It took months to explain to other people that I was working and not just sitting at home. It is important to be able to refuse unnecessary requests, obsessive conversations, and unnecessary things to you. As on weekends I do not answer work emails, so during work hours I am not distracted by any nonsense.

You've probably heard that psychologists also advise to strictly separate the zones: work, rest, etc. This did not suit me, on the contrary, if I change several locations around the house in a day, then it is easier to work. In general, the main thing is to listen to yourself and look for your own recipe for successful work from home. Try to build a different work schedule and daily routine, equip your workplace in different ways, master time management, etc. The main thing is to listen to yourself.
