Psychologists note similar features and principles of addiction among gamers with alcoholics and drug addicts. A person who is not able to meet the challenges of fate and solve his own problems tends to run away from them. An alcoholic seeks solace in drinking, a drug addict in psychotropic drugs, and a gambling addict in virtual reality.
Despite the subconscious understanding of the meaninglessness of the game process, a person spends all his time and money on continuing a negative passion. He is satisfied with such a departure from real problems, because only in the game does he feel like a real hero. A desire is formed to hide his hobby from relatives and friends, which develops over time into the habit of lying about and without reason. The player does not admit his addiction and declares that at any time he can calmly end this hobby. However, such a moment does not come for a long time.
So a person gradually loses life values and guidelines, he loses the will to fight. In his heart he is a player, but in fact he goes with the flow. At the same time, a low mood is observed, interest in active participation in the life of the family and society, and later any social activity, disappears. In everyday life, he shows apathy, insecurity and increased anxiety.
