Dreaming is not harmful, many argue, but it is dreams that can cause failure. Why is this happening?
Someone thinks about vacation, others imagine themselves as winners in the competition. Pay attention to the feelings that you are experiencing at this moment. It would seem that you do not have any awards, results, but the joy remains. Why is this happening? It's all about the hormone dopamine, which promotes motivation. However, he is responsible not so much for the pleasure of success as for its expectation. The level of dopamine determines a person's motivation and his desire to do something. During depression, the level of the hormone drops sharply, so people during this period do not want to do anything.
Everything would be perfect if people acted according to a simple scheme: motivation (desire) - fulfillment - getting a result. However, in reality everything happens differently. A person gets carried away with unrealizable dreams and stops acting, because he gets pleasure from one dream, and the next two points are no longer necessary. Thus, over time, a person becomes dependent on the pleasure that reflections bring him. He constantly tries to experience a sense of joy coming up with new, usually empty dreams.
Of course, one should not talk about the unconditional harm of dreams, as already mentioned, dreams will help to be useful if you set real tasks for yourself and fulfill them. Otherwise, the dreamer, like a drug addict, chases after pleasure and receives nothing but temporary joy, and then meeting with disappointment.
