Communication is the most important condition for the successful development of an individual. For this reason, if the child is completely deprived of the communicative component, his mental development will slow down.
Basic communication functions
Communication has three main functions, which are formed on informational, interactive and perceptual characteristics. The first is an informative and communicative function. It lies in the fact that between two subjects in the process of interaction there is necessarily an exchange of information. This becomes possible through verbal or non-verbal communication.
The second - regulatory and communicative - allows you to regulate behavioral factors and organize the activities of people in the process of communication. This means that a person in the process of interacting with other people can influence motives, goals, control actions and influence the behavior of another person.
The third - the affective-communicative function - is associated with emotions and feelings. In the process of interaction, people converge, taking into account the emotional component, or polarization.
Basic types of communication
In psychology, a large number of types of communication are distinguished. With the formal type, the goal is not to understand and take into account the interests and characteristics of the interlocutor. For this, peculiar images are used to hide true emotions in relation to the interlocutor.
With the primitive type, a person is assessed through how much he is needed. If there is interest in the contact, active communication arises. As soon as the set goals are resolved, polarization occurs.
Functional role communication is based on social status. Usually, with this type, all communication takes place in strict norms and expectations.
