The hardest part is over - you have passed the interview, and the job you dreamed of is already yours. But still, instead of the long-awaited joy, there is some fear in my soul. And this does not mean at all that you are a bad employee or are sick, all this is due to the fact that it is very difficult to join a new team, where everyone already knows everyone. In such a situation, even the most relaxed and sociable person can turn into a squeezed and uncommunicative person.
Many researchers admit that there is mobbing, that is, bullying of newcomers. This brings inconvenience to both the employee and the organization itself, therefore, in recent years, the training of specialists has begun to actively develop, who help to pass a successful infusion into the team. But if there are no such specialists when applying for a job, this does not mean that you need to drive yourself into a corner. You need to take a sensible look at the situation, because everyone survives after meeting a new team. In order to adapt and keep your nerves, you should calm down and follow these rules:
- Set yourself up for a positive outcome.
- Clarify the basic rules of the company, your obligations, as well as additional information about the specifics of the work while still at the interview.
- Do your work first, and do not try in every way to please your colleagues, often fulfilling their duties. Your help, perhaps, will bring you closer to employees, but, as practice shows, not for long. In addition, you can simply sit on your neck.
- Say hello to your colleagues first, and do not wait for them to remember that you are also on their team now. With all this, it is worth paying attention to what kind of communication ethics the team has. For example, there are companies where it is not customary to say "hello", everyone says "hello" to each other. Politeness is, of course, good, but if you greet like everyone else (within the framework of company ethics), then you will definitely not be a "black sheep".
- Don't be afraid to ask. The company has at least one employee who can answer a question of interest or deal with a new program. At the same time, do not be too intrusive, this can lead to irritation of colleagues.
- Advise and argue very carefully. Yes, you can share your experience of previous work, but you should not prove your case even on the first day. People do not like criticism in their own way, so you will not be appreciated if you point out the shortcomings of experienced employees.
- When communicating with new acquaintances, one should smile, be tactful and friendly.
- Try to have lunch with everyone. One of the best situations that can unite with the team is the time of lunch, a break, at this time a person is emotionally relaxed, he is not required to complete tasks and therefore he can calmly spend this time with you.
Even if after two days in a new place you will not have friends, it does not matter. After all, a newcomer needs a couple of months to finally join a new team.
During your first day of work, most people assume that being polite means that you are a gentle and spineless person. Quite the contrary, it is required to show sincerity and goodwill towards new colleagues. In the future, you should learn to express your position, but at the same time without offending others.
