Sometimes we find it difficult to define what we want. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it is difficult to maintain a sense of meaningfulness in life and experience satisfaction. Sometimes our goals are not formulated in words, and we forget where we are going and what we want to achieve. If you are familiar with these difficulties, use art therapy techniques to help yourself visualize your aspirations.
In order to form an image of the desired future for yourself and maintain a positive attitude towards achieving it, the creation of a collage is best suited.
- Stock up on a large number of magazines or pictures from the web, as well as a piece of Whatman paper and glue.
- Ask yourself the question: what am I aiming for? How I see my future: who surrounds me, where do I live, what do I do, what do I represent?
- Concentrate on this issue and start flipping through magazines or pictures. Pay attention to details, not overall imagery. And whatever you like, cut out and lay out on your Whatman sheet.
- When you realize that you have collected everything you want, arrange your details on the sheet as you like and seem appropriate. Evaluate the painting again, move something if necessary and then glue all the details on whatman paper.
- If you want, you can paint on any connections, arrows or other signs that you want with a felt-tip pen or pencil. Sign your signature or other nameplate to cement this contract for the future with yourself.
- Be sure to place your collage on a view location. When you are tormented by doubt, anxiety or fear, look at it: this is what you strive for and what you want. This will give you strength, help you feel the surge of positive emotions that you experienced when creating the image of your future.
Reevaluate your collage from time to time in a calm state. Your goals and desires may have changed. Make adjustments to your image of the desired future or do it again if what you wanted has already been achieved.
Mark the things that come true in your collage with special signs (put bright checkmarks or exclamation marks, glue stars or hearts): it is important to celebrate mini-victories! This way, you maintain a positive attitude and keep track of whether you are moving in the right direction.
