Today the sphere of management is expanding its boundaries. More and more competencies are being studied in universities by future managers. The requirements for the profession are becoming more stringent: the manager does not have enough knowledge of his field, he must also have the skills of psychology, be able to count, know the law, and so on. Responsibility is increasing. All of this leaves an imprint on poor managers in the form of stress.
Stress is the body's response to negative environmental factors. It can lead to a nervous breakdown or even a mental disorder, so you need to take this problem seriously. Resistance to stress is one of the dominant qualities of a successful manager. It consists in abstracting a person from various adverse influences. But how do you learn to “keep your emotions in check”?
First, one must be aware of the seriousness and global nature of this problem. For example, Japan even has a government stress management program. The country spends huge amounts of money on research and development of solutions to deal with stressful situations.
Secondly, it will be correct to find out the source of irritation. What is the point in avoiding problems if sooner or later they will return anyway? You should not be afraid to face your problems. When it becomes clear what to fight with, then you can move on to the next step: an action plan.
Thirdly, you need to enlist the support of loved ones. When a person has “his own island of tranquility and harmony,” it will be much easier for him to cope with adversity. A simple heart-to-heart conversation with your best friend can turn the whole idea of the problem, which turns out to be a mere trifle.
Fourthly, it is important to take "breaks". A man is not a horse, he cannot work forever. Rest is the best stress reliever. When a person is away from the hustle and bustle and worries, he forgets about all his pressing problems, which, in essence, are not as important as life itself. The realization that there is still happiness on Earth is what becomes important.
Fifth, it is recommended that you remember the positive aspects of your life. When trouble happens at work, you should not take it as the end of the world. After all, work is not your meaning of life. Remember that you have a loving wife and children. You play your favorite football every night with your friends. Every summer you relax in Cuba sipping your favorite cocktail. After a series of positive emotions from your memories, problems will disappear by themselves, and stress will not take you by surprise.
Thus, the stress for a manager is no different from the stress of an ordinary person. This problem can and should be dealt with by any suitable means.
