The sensitivity of people in creative professions is not for nothing that has become a proverb. Artists, musicians, actors have a special kind of nature, which is why they often show too many negative emotions for seemingly insignificant reasons.
Resentment as a sign of insecurity
Resentment is a demonstrative reaction, it is needed to show the offender that he is wrong. Usually people try not to show too much their resentment to close people, realizing that friends and relatives rarely try to specifically pin up and hurt them. However, some representatives of the creative professions are ready to take offense for any reason.
To communicate normally with such people, you need to take their touchiness as a given and an immutable property of nature. People in creative professions tend to be terribly insecure, because what they do for a living cannot be objectively measured. A painting, a song, a dance, a sculpture can only be liked or disliked. They cannot be comfortable, high-quality, durable, these characteristics are incompatible with works of art. As a result, every creative person constantly balances between other people's opinions about their art, about their way of making a living.
The problem is that creative people in their works express themselves and their ego, respectively, each negative assessment bites them to the very heart. The psyche of people in creative professions is rarely stable, the slightest changes in life, small insignificant events unbalance them. Therefore, they tend to accept even the most innocent comments with hostility because of their own insecurity and dependence on someone else's opinion.
Protection form
We can say that creative people all their lives are trying to build protection around themselves in order to somehow more easily perceive the world. Unfortunately, a true artist cannot grow thick enough skin without losing the ability to be creative. That is why people in creative professions have so many problems with the world around them.
The sensitivity of such people should not be taken as something personal. Most likely, this is how their increased susceptibility is expressed. Most often, excessive resentment manifests itself only in the first time after meeting as a defensive reaction or an attempt to protect your personal space from intrusion.
In general, one must understand that in most cases all the strangeness and unusualness in the behavior of creative people are explained precisely by attempts to protect themselves from the world. Shocking image, rudeness, deliberately antisocial behavior, touchiness for people of creative professions are a kind of outer shells. Getting to what they have inside can be difficult.
