What is apathy and what causes it?

How to overcome apathy

To cope with apathy, you need to find out the reasons for its occurrence. First, determine how running the state is. If the apathy is lingering in nature, i.e., lasts more than two weeks, you need to see a specialist, because this condition can be a harbinger of any serious mental illness.

Many people believe they can deal with apathy on their own. This is not always correct, since a person is trying to artificially arouse interest in himself, to become active, and this can lead to increased discomfort in the psychological state and a deterioration in the state.

During a period of apathy, the phrases "pull yourself together, rag", "don't be a weakling" will not have a positive effect.

A person can overcome apathy only after learning to make efforts on himself. But they shouldn't be violent. Better to try to gradually change the environment in which you find yourself. Try also changing your place of residence, moving to another country for a few weeks, leaving your old job and starting to engage in completely different activities that previously seemed impossible to you.

In addition to changing external circumstances, it is necessary to change the internal state. Try to reconsider your principles, views, attitude to a particular situation. Try to see the world with different eyes. Those things in which you saw bad, consider from a different angle and find the positive aspects.

Focus less on the negative of life, keep only bright moments in your heart.

Very often people cope with apathy by attending various psychological trainings or consulting a psychologist. And some find their way to salvation in religion. The main thing to learn when dealing with apathy is that you will somehow have to fight with yourself, study and work on your problems.
