The feeling of anxiety is probably familiar to many people: they are often anxious in connection with a particular difficult life situation. Often people feel anxiety for their health and their loved ones, for the well-being of their children and relatives, etc. Many are afraid of the instability and uncertainty of their future. In general, in the modern world there are enough reasons for the occurrence of spontaneous anxieties, called panic attacks.

What are panic attacks?

A panic attack is a state of intense anxiety or fear that occurs completely spontaneously. This feeling is accompanied by both emotional and somatic symptoms: heart palpitations, adrenaline rush, shortness of breath, etc. Panic attacks are quite common in the modern world. As doctors note, in most cases, people aged 20 to 40 are susceptible to panic attacks. It has been noticed that women have unreasonable fear and spontaneous feelings of anxiety much more often than men.

Panic attacks. Causes

Spontaneous anxiety attacks can occur and develop for many reasons. Sometimes a single factor is enough for the appearance of a panic attack, and sometimes a whole complex is needed. Nevertheless, doctors presented data from the latest statistical studies that allow to identify the most common causes of panic attacks that occur in humans. It is well known that unreasonable fear can be caused by certain stressful situations, which are accompanied by strong emotions.

Often, panic attacks are provoked by all sorts of conflicts and quarrels, as well as by visible tension in relations with people around them (for example, misunderstandings between colleagues). It has been noticed that panic attacks can occur due to too bright light or flicker acting on a person in a corresponding way. This also includes loud noises and even harsh sounds. Often people who have been in direct sunlight for a long time are subjected to panic attacks.

Narcologists state that some people experience unreasonable fears and sudden anxieties due to the consumption of large doses of alcohol, drug addiction or excessive smoking. Exhausting physical activity can also trigger feelings of anxiety. The use of certain medications, for example, hormonal drugs, can also lead to this condition of a person.

In addition, various kinds of gynecological procedures, pregnancy, and unplanned abortions can cause anxiety. Doctors note that the accumulation of a huge number of people in some kind of confined space also often leads to the emergence of psychological discomfort and panic attacks in some of them. In conclusion, it is worth noting that often these attacks generally occur for no apparent reason: nothing threatens either health or human life. As a rule, these are sudden attacks.
