Many children and even adults experience unpleasant emotions in a dark room. This is one of those phobias that are inherent in humans at the genetic level. That is why fear of the dark, or nyphobia, is almost impossible to defeat. However, you can learn to control it, and over time, and almost completely get rid of the fear of the dark.
Instructions
Step 1
First, try to remember the incident from which your fear began. Most likely, this happened in childhood. If you can't remember, simulate a traumatic situation. Lie down in a comfortable position. Play in your head a real or fictitious situation so that it ends positively. For example, imagine that when you were a child, one day you woke up in a dark apartment alone, but immediately your parents came and turned on the light. Do these exercises until new positive emotions drive out old negative ones.
Step 2
It often happens that your own imagination becomes the enemy. Go towards your fear - walk up and look at the object, the outlines of which frightened you, walk around the dark apartment. Let your mind take over your feelings.
Step 3
However, if any rational reasoning about the fact that there is no one in the dark recedes when you are alone, try to still not allow loneliness. Buy a large toy that will "sleep" with you, leave on some source of light or sound - a night light, radio or TV. Before going to bed, watch only good good movies or listen to quiet music. Avoid eating or drinking late at night - getting up at night will trigger a new attack of fear. Get yourself a pet - it will fill the feeling of emptiness, and you will not be alone.
Step 4
You should act in a similar way if your child suddenly begins to show signs of nymphobia. In this case, the main thing is to prevent fear from gaining a foothold. If the child is frightened at night - get up, turn on the light and show him that the "monster" in the closet is just a coat, and the "evil eye" is a buckle on a bag gleaming in the light of night lights. Subsequently, close the cabinets before going to bed and remove any objects that may frighten the child at night. Remember that at the age of three, your baby's imagination starts to work and does not need to be provoked to develop fear. Be sure to install a night light near the crib so that the baby can turn it on at any time. And, of course, never frighten him with creatures living in the dark, and do not tell scary tales at night.
