Some people naturally have self-esteem. Others, alas, lack it all their lives. But this is fixable, because people are able to change and develop if they have such a goal.

Step 1

Create a foundation for that feeling. To do this, you need to find at least 10 of your positive qualities and draw each of them in the form of a kind of hieroglyph, understandable only to you. These hieroglyphs need to be transferred onto several pieces of thick cardboard. You can put one of them in your wallet, the other under the plexiglass on your desktop, and use the third as a bookmark in the book you are reading. The transcript of each of these signs should remain in the notebook. Drawing such signs is better than just writing qualities for two reasons. First, in this way you will also use the right hemisphere, which thinks in images and creates a new image of yourself. Second, you don’t have to worry that your list will be read by someone whose eyes it wasn’t meant to be.

Step 2

Work on the speed of your movements. They need to become slower and more solid. Forcing yourself to speak more slowly, nothing spoils a meaningful experience like a quick, confused speech. From external changes, you will move on to internal ones, and self-esteem will appear after you begin to make a more solid impression.

Step 3

Learn to behave not in the usual way, but in the way you need to. This is not necessarily provocative behavior in opposition to conventional wisdom, but be prepared to break the rules and not worry about it. In the West, this quality is called assertiveness. There has been excellent literature lately on the development of this skill. It's worth getting to know it. After all, decency and expectations of others often prevent people from making and implementing the only correct decisions. And what self-esteem can there be if a person is constantly afraid of what others will say about him? It is necessary to take into account the opinion of others, but you should not blindly follow it. A person with dignity is not afraid to violate certain norms for the business.
