Temperament is a complex of individual personality traits that determines the body's response to external stimuli. In other words, temperament does not affect the mental organization of a person (goals, thoughts, fantasies, etc.), but it determines the speed of accomplishment of goals and tasks set by a person, as well as human emotionality and impulsivity. Temperament is the basic component of a person's character.
In modern psychology, 4 types of temperament are distinguished: choleric, sanguine, melancholic and phlegmatic. However, not a single type occurs in its pure form. Most often, two or more types of temperament are combined in a person. There are many tests to determine temperament. Here is some of them:
The first test is imaginary. Imagine that you are sitting on a park bench wearing a headdress. At some point, you got hot, and you took off your hat and put it next to you. At this time, another person came up and accidentally sat on your hat. What will you do in this case? Choose one of the answer options:
1. Laugh, ask for your hat and start telling your neighbor on the bench funny stories like what happened at this moment. In addition, this is a great option for acquaintance, in case the neighbor on the bench is of the opposite sex!
2. Be upset, because this headdress is so dear to you (it was knitted by your grandmother or given by your mother), and now it may be spoiled!
3. Shout at your neighbor on the bench. You have to be more attentive!
4. Do not pay attention to this, because you are busy with your thoughts.
Write your answer on the sheet.
The second test is curly. Choose one of the shapes of your choice: square, rectangle, circle, triangle, zigzag. Write down or draw your choice on the sheet.
Decoding tests
In the first test, option 1 defines a sanguine person. Sanguine (from Lat. "Sangvis" - blood, vitality) is a rather emotional type of temperament. Such people are artistic, mobile, talkative. Their good mood prevails over the moments of despondency. They are tireless in their work, but only if the work is interesting to them. Otherwise, they will quickly switch to something else, completely opposite. In love, they are also slightly windy, adore attention and affection in large quantities. If one partner is able to meet their increased requirements, then sanguine people remain loyal to such partners. Otherwise, they go to look for new interests on the side.
Option 2 - melancholic. The melancholic (from the Greek "melena hole" - black bile) is not inferior to the sanguine in emotionality. But the melancholic is vulnerable, sensitive, often upset over trifles. In his work, such a person requires praise and support from his superiors and colleagues, because he is often not confident in his own abilities. In love and friendship, melancholic people are monogamous and remain faithful to their friends and partners until the end of their lives. Altruism is characteristic of melancholic people, they often donate money to charity and simply donate many things to friends and acquaintances.
Option 3 - choleric. Choleric (from the Greek "chole" - bile) is characterized by impetuosity, speed of reaction. They do first and think later. Choleric people are incredibly stubborn and hardy. They are born fighters. Choleric people give themselves up to the end. But, if something does not agree with their opinion, they can argue. Moreover, choleric people are ready to argue until they are hoarse. In love, choleric people are passionate and jealous. A sharp change in mood leads to the fact that choleric people in a day can have time to utter a bunch of compliments and immediately quarrel with their other half, and then also violently make up. If the energy of the choleric is directed in the right direction, he will be guaranteed success in any business.
Option 4 - phlegmatic. Phlegmatic people (from the Greek "phlegm" - phlegm, mucus) are weakly emotional people. All their experiences take place inside, and not in front of everyone. Phlegmatic people are quite calm and balanced. They are a little slow in work, but they approach the matter efficiently. They will first carefully disassemble any assigned task into cogs, and then they will undertake to carry it out. In love, phlegmatic people are devoted, but stingy with affection. They know how to prove by deed, not by word and touch. A valuable quality in phlegmatic is the ability not to get involved in a conflict. They simply do not notice such situations.
If in the second test you chose a square, you are a phlegmatic. If the circle is melancholic. The rectangle in this test may refer to a mixed type of temperament. The rectangle means doubt, search. The person who has chosen the rectangle is at the stage of rethinking his values and can radically change his character. For example, in the first test you identified yourself as melancholic, but internally tired of your temperament, then in the second test you choose a rectangle. The triangle characterizes the choleric person, and the zigzag characterizes the sanguine person. The second test shows whether you have a pure or mixed type of temperament. If in the first and second cases the types of temperament coincided, it means that you are a pronounced sanguine person, choleric person, etc.
If the options turned out to be different, then you can change your temperament, adjusting to a specific life situation.
In any case, do not stop at two or three tests and remember that temperament can also be influenced by your name, zodiac sign, and even age. Study yourself and develop!
