Inhalation anesthesia. This is the so-called "laughing gas" - nitrous oxide. It is more often used for intense contractions and rapid childbirth. The effectiveness of this method is 50%.
Epidural anesthesia. A blockage of only the lower body is the most popular method of pain relief during childbirth. The medicine is injected directly into the spinal cord canal. Most often used for caesarean section. The woman is fully conscious. If the anesthesia is applied correctly, then it does not affect the attempts. Just like any kind of pain relief has contraindications.
General anesthesia. It is used extremely rarely and only when an emergency surgical intervention is required.
