Scientists studying human evolution argue that the original smile was a gesture of submission, humility and concession. In our time, a smile expresses a much more complex set of signals and feelings. There are 9 types of smiles.
Top smile. This is a smile in which only the upper teeth are visible. It is believed to be a friendly smile that occurs involuntarily. Most often, this kind of smile can be observed when meeting close people, friends, when communicating between a mother and a child.
Shy smile. This smile is very similar to the upper one, but if you look closely, you can see the bitten lower lip. Another distinctive feature of this smile is the slightly lowered head. Often such a smile can be found in a child who meets a stranger's gaze.
Fake smile. Such a smile can be found in photographs from official meetings, at boring events. The smile is similar to the top one, but no wrinkles are formed near the eyes.
Broad smile. This smile occurs in a moment of fun: funny moment, tickling, funny anecdote, joy. With a wide smile, both rows of teeth are visible, but most often people try to control their smile by covering their lower teeth.
A tight smile. If a person stretches the corners of his lips, showing a little clenched teeth, then this is a forced smile. Often such a smile accompanies a moment of fear and aggression.
A playful smile. Widely stretched lips, raised corners of the lips, but hidden teeth are signs of a playful smile. Such a smile can be found in people listening to an interesting story, expecting a joke.
A simple smile. This is how people smile when they remember the happy moments of their lives. The lips are stretched, the corners of the lips are raised, but not open.
Crooked smile. The smile looks like a simple one, but the corners of the lips are pulled down. Such a smile looks a little menacing, but most often it only expresses disapproval.
A tortured smile. This smile is often used to show the other person that their joke or behavior is inappropriate. This smile is manifested by slightly compressed lips, taut and raised corners of the lips.
