A thunderstorm can be a daunting sight. If you have sudden flashes of lightning and loud thunderclaps causing unaccountable fear, do not despair. You are able to deal with this feeling.
Instructions
Step 1
Try to remember an event in your life, the consequence of which could be fear of a thunderstorm. You may have been left alone at home in a thunderstorm when you were a child. Consider if you have some creepy story about a thunderstorm sunk into your soul. Maybe you yourself were an observer of how lightning hit, for example, a tree. Also, the reason may be in watching a television program about a thunderstorm. If you understand where your fear began, it will be easier for you to overcome it.
Step 2
Switch to doing something during a thunderstorm. Take care of your household chores, read aloud expressively, do some exercise, cook the dish you love. Your attention will be somewhat distracted from the stormy phenomenon of nature, and it will be easier for you to pull yourself together.
Step 3
Do breathing exercises. Take a few deep breaths in and out. Next, close the right nostril with the index finger of the hand of the same name and inhale through the left. After that, you need to simultaneously open the right and close the left nostril with your ring finger and little finger. Exhale and inhale, and then close the right side of your nose again. For a quarter of an hour, focus on breathing, gradually adding short-term breath holding during inhalation and exhalation to the exercise.
Step 4
Relax. Take a soothing bath with a few drops of essential oils, light scented candles, and make green or flower tea. Refrain from drinking drinks that stimulate the nervous system - alcohol, coffee and energy cocktails. Put on comfortable clothes and wrap yourself snugly in a blanket.
Step 5
Explore the phenomena that occur during a thunderstorm in more detail. Find all kinds of information on the Internet, watch scientific films on this topic. Be sure to pay attention to how residential buildings are protected from thunderstorms. The belief that your home is safe with a lightning rod can calm you down.
