The closer the goal is, the more difficult the road becomes to it - this happens quite often. However, in each case, this phenomenon is caused by different reasons. Maybe you just have a low level of motivation, or maybe you expected too much of yourself.
Most often this is banal laziness. The closer the result becomes, the less effort you want to make to achieve it. It seems that it is possible to achieve the desired by inertia, that is, due to previous efforts, but this is not the case.
Expectations
In addition, these limitations arise from expectations. As a rule, people like to exaggerate their own capabilities and set goals that are very difficult to achieve, even if it does not seem so at first glance.
For example, fat people, inspired by victory after the first run, set themselves the task of running several kilometers daily. However, this fuse quickly disappears, as the complexity of the task increases, and inspiration does not grow.
To avoid this problem, you need to be realistic, but it is not as easy as it might seem at first. It is better to set a simple goal for yourself and achieve it than to dream of the greatest accomplishments, but turn off halfway.
In the above example, it was possible to set the task of running not every day, but at least as much as possible. Thus, a person will be able to regularly go in for sports and not feel guilty in front of himself for having broken off and missed training.
Retreat mechanism
The retreat mechanism can also work. Its principle is that when less than a quarter of the way is left to achieve the goal, more than half of the people simply give up. Although they understand that there is not much left, self-confidence is not enough. This leads to dire consequences, given that very little remains to be done.
This mechanism is especially well tracked in marathon races. Most people go 30-33 km (42, 195 km in total). This suggests that a person simply does not believe that he can run, and the remaining road seems to him unreasonably difficult. Winners say they just forced themselves to take one small step, then another, and didn't think about how long they had to run.
Lack of motivation
Also, difficulties can arise due to lack of motivation. When a goal is just being set, the level of desire to achieve it is quite high. It seems that you can move mountains. However, as you get closer (especially if the result is visible only at the very end), the motivation gradually decreases. As a result, each next task becomes harder and harder.
This state should not be confused with laziness. Since laziness is a reluctance to act in general, and a low level of motivation is a lack of "wanting" to perform a specific task.
