Drivers experience shock, fear and guilt
According to practicing psychologists, it is these emotions and feelings that induce most drivers to leave the scene of their road accidents. The shock from what happened turns out to be so strong that self-defense mechanisms are triggered in the psyche.
The brain simply refuses to perceive what happened as a fact, ignores reality so that a person is not crushed by the strongest shock, especially if people have suffered or died through the fault of the driver.
From the outside it often looks like indifference or cruelty. But there are actually few people capable of quietly killing. The guilty driver experiences a strong sense of guilt, mixed with fear, does not believe that what happened to him.
It seems to a person that if he goes on, everything that happened will become just an ordinary incident in which someone else is to blame, and he has nothing to do with it. Awareness comes much later, when the driver is already able to accept what happened and take responsibility.

Drivers hope to shirk responsibility
The main motive of the driver, who tries to avoid responsibility for injury or death of people, is the instinct of self-preservation. He seeks to save himself a loved one, to do everything so that life goes on the same way as before.
Strong fear of the court, prison and censure of society forces a person to hide or seek to avoid punishment in all possible ways. Such people worry little about the victims and, as a rule, try not to think.
But the human psyche is arranged in such a way that sooner or later conscience begins to remind of the perfect, either consciously, or by problems and diseases. So even a motorist who escaped quick punishment will definitely meet him at some turn of his own life road.
