Communication with others is an important part of social life. The ability to find contact with people is a real art, but if you want, you can master it if you take into account the basic rules of communication.

Find points of contact with the person. If your interlocutor sees that there is something that unites you, he will subconsciously begin to perceive you as his own, stop treating you with distrust, and it will be easier for you to establish contact with him.

Take an interest in the interlocutor, do it sincerely. Believe that there is something worthy of attention in every individual. You need to learn to know what it is. If you have a stranger in front of you, it is difficult to do it straight away. Identify for yourself an interesting detail in the appearance of the interlocutor and focus on it. Ask the person questions about him and his life and listen carefully to his answers.

Be tactful. Think what you say. Avoid discussing topics that can be a painful issue for a person. Such items include, for example, health, money, religion.

Compliment. Choose non-trivial praise and be sincere. Otherwise, your compliment will seem far-fetched and fake. Praise an interesting accessory in a person's appearance, some of his skills or a well-chosen perfume.

Show respect for people. Appreciate their time, do not be late for the meeting. Keep your promises, be the master of your words. In order for people to reach out to you, you must create the impression of not only a pleasant, but also a reliable person.

Put yourself on a par with the interlocutor. Positioning from below can look like a rude sycophant, and positioning from above will make communication with you uncomfortable. An arrogant cynic who feels better than others, like a sucker, will find it difficult to establish strong, long-term contact with a person.

Don't argue with your interlocutor. Respect his point of view. If you need to convey the opposite opinion, do it extremely gently and politely. Use facts as an argument so that your objections are not unfounded.

Don't interrupt the person. He will certainly be unpleasant to lose a legitimate opportunity to express his point of view. Do not finish the sentence for the person, unless he asks you to help with a glance. Otherwise, you may get the impression that you consider yourself the smartest. Believe me, your interlocutor is able to collect his thoughts himself and express his thought.

Be careful with humor. You shouldn't even jokingly discuss the interlocutor. He may be offended, upset, or perceive your seemingly innocent attack as an expression of aggression. Hone your sense of humor around people whose reactions you are sure of.
