Instructions

Step 1

What is mindfulness? This is a trait of a person's personality, which makes him more trainable, observant. Such a person makes better use of the information received, while an absent-minded person may simply not notice it. Absent-mindedness, the opposite quality of care. It can arise due to weakness of the nervous system, lack of sleep, severe fatigue, laziness, or due to a person's strong passion for one thing, when he completely does not notice anything around.

Step 2

What does it mean to be attentive? It means learning to live in the here and now, to fully use the present, not twisted in the clouds or in dreams. To understand which person is attentive and which is not, remember the episode from the story about Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, when they climbed the stairs to the second floor together, and the first one could tell how many steps he climbed, and the second one - no. A person's attentiveness directly depends on how well developed such properties of attention as stability, concentration, volume and distribution. And they are exactly what you need to develop in order to teach yourself to be more attentive.

Step 3

Try this exercise, for example. Close your eyes and focus on the different sources of noise around you. Keep them in mind, notice when one source disappears and another appears. You can focus not only on sounds, but also on everything that surrounds you - people, animals, objects. Ask a loved one every day, imperceptibly for you, to change something in the atmosphere of your apartment - rearrange books, move the clock, swap photos. And try to always find this change. Think of such tasks for yourself all the time, and then, gradually, voluntary attention will develop into mindfulness, and you will be doing it already unconsciously.

Step 4

Mindfulness isn't just about observing the world around you. How often a person does not pay attention to the signals of his body calling for help! Mindfulness of your body can also be learned. Try the following exercise. Set aside half an hour when you will not be distracted. You can turn on pleasant music without words. Lie down on a sofa or bed. Close your eyes. Concentrate on the sensations in your right hand. Then - on the left. Next, check your neck, shoulders, head, chest, stomach, legs. What do you feel - pain, coldness, squeezing, or maybe bliss or a pleasant feeling of a rested body? Repeat these exercises more often. Over time, you will learn to feel your whole body at once, and you will do this constantly and involuntarily.

Step 5

What will developed mindfulness give you? You will stop overeating because you will feel full in time. You will get rid of bad habits, such as biting your nails. You will never forget to turn off the lights when leaving your home. You will get maximum pleasure from a close relationship with your loved one. Your life will be filled with full-fledged sensations and emotions. Is it all worth the effort of mindfulness training? The correct answer is yes!
