Motivation is the process that motivates a person to take action. It determines the activity, stability and orientation of behavior to meet needs. This is an internal state that stimulates a person to achieve a goal and, as a result, restore balance (both psychological and physical), reduce tension or completely disappear. There are several types of motivation.

Step 1

External (or extreme) motivation. It is caused by external reasons, stimulates the manifestation of certain human behavior and actions. For example, additional incentives from the employer (free housing, interest-free installments, etc.) can be an external incentive to continue working in a job you don't like. To start your own business, an external stimulus is often the possibility of making a large profit.

Step 2

Internal (or intrinsic) motivation. In contrast to external motivation, it is associated with the internal motives of a person, with the content of activity, prompts one or another behavior, deed. For example, a person rescuing a drowning man is motivated not by an incentive to receive a benefit (monetary reward, encouragement, etc.), but by a sense of duty, a sincere desire to help in trouble.

Step 3

Positive (or positive) motivation. Based on positive incentives aimed at increasing productivity, sales volumes, labor efficiency, etc. Positive incentives can be both material reward (bonus, bonus, etc.) and various forms of praise (diploma, gratitude, the opportunity to be a boss).

Step 4

Negative (or negative) motivation. It is formed on negative stimuli, encourages action only by the fact that a person seeks to avoid an unpleasant situation. Negative stimuli can be verbal (verbal) punishment - remark, public censure, condemnation, etc.; material deprivation - a fine, refusal to provide bonuses, privileges; isolation from society - ignoring, neglecting the collective, or even imprisonment; corporal punishment.

Step 5

Sustained motivation. It does not require additional incentives, since based on the needs of the person (I am hungry, so I will now go to the store and buy a lot of food).

Step 6

Unstable motivation that needs to be constantly stimulated (I have to feed my family, so I will now go to the store and buy a lot of food).
