A nervous tic is a disease caused by a malfunction of the nervous system. It is an involuntary twitching of parts of the body. In most cases, it is the result of severe psychological stress.
Unfortunately, this disease is incurable. There are periods of remission, when the patient practically does not experience tics, and periods of exacerbation, when the disease returns.
Usually, this disorder manifests itself in adolescence until the age of 18. A nervous tic can manifest itself in different ways. In some cases, we can talk about the occurrence of Tourette's syndrome, which is a whole complex of complex tics, which are accompanied by various sounds and strange noises.
People who have this ailment say that at first a tension arises in the body, which involuntarily turns out to be relieved in this way. Why does a disorder such as a nervous tic occur:
- the result of exposure to infection;
- reaction to taking psychotropic substances in childhood;
- great emotional and psychological stress.
Nervous tics often occur in adolescents who have domineering parents. They constantly feel that they are being watched, afraid of making mistakes, upsetting or angering them. In adulthood, the illness can be complicated by severe depression and lewd behavior. Treatment is carried out both medically and through work with a psychologist.
