Friendship is a relationship between people that is not backed up by receiving any benefit, that is, completely disinterested. Yes, today, it is hardly possible to find a person in the world who would not understand the meaning of the word friendship, but there are many manifestations of friendship, which are sometimes difficult to understand.
When in kindergarten, kids start to play hide and seek together, share toys and go for a walk holding hands - this is the first manifestation of friendship. People learn to make friends from early childhood, preserving this ability until old age and, sometimes, do not even think about it. What is friendship? Communication between people, human emotions, feelings and a constant willingness to support, talk, help. It arises on the basis of mutual understanding, commonality of views and characters and can develop into strong respect, mutual affection and a rather strong emotional connection.
Friendship is somewhat akin to love, only here we are talking mainly about communication between people of the same sex. If two women are friends, they share their experiences, console each other and give advice. Friends can go shopping together, share good news, and seek solace in matters of the heart. However, there is a variant of female friendship, which arises temporarily, due to the need for both women. Such a union will last as long as its participants need each other, after which it will disintegrate, as if it never existed.
Male friendship also has the right to life and, for some unknown reason, is considered much stronger and more decent than female friendship. But do not forget that everything here also depends on the individual perception and the people themselves. Men build their relationships a little differently than women, hence the misconception that they know how to be better friends. However, in the history of relationships, there are many examples of both a long-term strong friendship of two women, and a short short partnership among men.
A very interesting topic is heterosexual friendship. For a long time, it was believed that purely friendly relations between a man and a woman were impossible by definition. And even if one of them pursues exclusively platonic goals, the plans of the other certainly include something more. In fact, such a friendship is really possible and even has a right to exist no less than same-sex friendship. And if two people understand each other, can console and support and do not dream of sexual contact, does it matter what gender they are? From the same point of view, you cannot be friends with gay people just because you can inadvertently become the object of their sexual interest.
Friendship is one of the key points in social relationships between people. Ordinary communication does not always develop into friendship, but if you can boast of an interesting warm company and good friends, it is much easier for you to live in the world, because you have the most important value - human communication.
