At the junction of socionics, psychology, time management, there is such a section - goal setting. Goal-setting is both a concept and the first stage of any conscious process. After all, in order to achieve some results, it is necessary to clearly define what kind of results you are going to achieve, by what methods, in what time frame, and so on.

Setting a goal is the first step towards achieving it
Setting a goal is the first step towards achieving it

It is necessary

  • - paper;
  • - a pen or pencil.

Instructions

Step 1

The first step will require you to define your core interests in writing. Try to keep within the number "7 + 2". An example might be: family, work, home, travel, etc.

Step 2

Now try to identify and write down the things that are paramount for yourself (life values). Try also not to go beyond the "7 + 2". Let it be personal development, career, prosperity, independence, family and so on.

Step 3

Define and write down your current goals. Write out only the most significant ones: marry L., become the head of a department, get a third higher education, renovate an apartment, improve health, bring a new product to the market.

Step 4

Evaluate all connections between values (how one current goal can help or hinder the achievement of another). For example, renovating an apartment will have the most beneficial effect on your health (minus fungus in the walls, minus decibels from noisy neighbors, more fresh air, and so on). Launching a new product could well be a promotion for you to head of marketing. At the same time, the appointment of you as the head of the department will certainly affect the level of income, and, therefore, it will be easier to organize a wedding and apartment renovation. And so on.

Step 5

Draw a table where your values will be located on top of the column names (remember, you wrote them out?), And on the side - your current goals. The last vertical column is "total". This matrix is necessary so that you can prioritize, create a hierarchy of goals. Rate (for example, on a ten-point scale) the contribution of each current goal to your values in life. So, for example, getting the position of the head of a department will seriously push you towards achieving well-being (+8 in the cell of the table at the intersection of "Goals. Become a head of department" and "Life values. Well-being"), gaining independence (+6), personal development (+7). But renovating an apartment or marrying L. will not bring anything into your career (0), independence (0), will significantly worsen your well-being (0), but, perhaps, will help create a family. Evaluate the result obtained for each item (add up all the numbers in the cells opposite each of the goals). The highest number will appear in the "Results" column opposite the highest priority of the goals. At this stage, assess the longevity of each goal. For example, becoming a head of a department and being one for as long as possible is a long-term goal, graduating from a university in a few years is a medium-term goal, apartment renovation is a short-term goal.

Step 6

The next stage no longer belongs to setting goals, but to planning their achievement. Here you will need to assess all the necessary resources to achieve each of the goals. For example, in order to become a head of a department, you need: higher education, work experience, experience of successful work in the field of specialization of the department, friendly relations with N. N. Now you should evaluate your available resources, as well as what is lacking to achieve the goal … You should think about how to get the missing. This stage is called "resource analysis".

Step 7

Now the goal-to-task analysis. At this stage, you should make a list of tasks that need to be solved to achieve the goal. From this stage, it is already possible to proceed to planning the achievement of the goal with a calendar in hand, that is, it is already possible to determine the time frame for achieving each of the goals. It will be pretty easy to do this at this stage.
