Goal setting helps a person choose the path along which they will move through life. The goals can be different, some are achieved quickly enough, others require long-term planning. It is quite difficult to set goals in life; you need to do this in stages.
the main objective
Imagine the big picture of your life. Answer yourself to the question of what you want to achieve in life. The answers can be very different, for example, “I want to become rich,” “I want to be happy,” “I want to help people,” etc. Answering this question will help you focus on the things that really matter to you. Keeping your main goal in mind at all times will make it easier for you to move through life. The list of such goals can be long, think about what you want to achieve in 10, 20 or 30 years.
Listen to successful people who have achieved their goals. Learn from them and ask for advice.
Short term goals
Having determined for yourself what you want to get in the long term, decide how you will achieve your goal, correctly prioritize. Make a list of small, specific tasks that will make the path to your main goal. For example, if you want to build a successful career, think about what exactly you want to do, how you can get the desired job, what kind of education you need, etc. If you want to maintain perfect health for yourself, check whether you need to change something in yourself now, what needs to be done to maintain health in old age, etc.
At any given time, you may be faced with several tasks at once. Which one you prioritize is critical.
Be specific about your goals
Setting general and short-term goals in life is usually limited to abstract words, for example, "I want to be famous." Once you decide on these goals, be sure to flesh them out. For example, if your goal is to be in perfect physical shape, tell yourself, "I will run a marathon in the coming year." Track your progress with specific numbers. For example, instead of saying that you will be running more and more, tell yourself, "I will run 10 km every day." This will greatly simplify your work. Set specific deadlines for achieving your goal. For example, if you're going to graduate, say, "I'm going to graduate in five years." Try writing your goals down on paper. This will help clarify exactly what you will be doing.
Take action
After you answer yourself to the above questions, start moving towards your goal, taking steps towards it daily, weekly, monthly. The immediate solution to the specific tasks set for yourself stimulates you to quickly achieve the final result - a long-term goal. For example, if you have set yourself the task of becoming an entrepreneur and opening a store within the next year, today start looking for the best location in your city to locate it. Within the next month, go around all banks and inquire about the terms of lending to small businesses. After six months, start posting ads for recruiting, etc.
