Do you go to the store and buy everything in huge quantities? Do you have dozens of dresses and hundreds of shoes in your closet? Does the process of acquiring things bring insane joy? You buy without thinking too much - do you need the purchased item and how will this purchase affect the family budget?
Unfortunately, the consequences of unpredictable and uncontrolled shopping are usually very predictable - these are quarrels in the family, debts to friends, dozens of empty credit cards, and as a result of all this - nervous breakdowns, depression, neuroses.
There are several ways to self-control:
• You need to establish a clear rule for yourself - before you buy a thing you like, you need to think for a week - do you need it. Only after that, having reasonably weighed all the pros and cons, you can finally make a purchase.
• Keep a notebook of income and expenses, in which glue all receipts and write down all expenses. You will see where your salary is actually spent and what you can save on.
• Close all credit cards. Go shopping and malls with only cash. You know, there is no better remedy for waste than an empty wallet.
• Go shopping with a sane friend who, unlike you, is not shopaholic. She will remind you that you already have ten dresses of this model and read the numbers on the price tags aloud.
• If you are going shopping, make a clear list. Make purchases only on it. At home, before going to the store, estimate the approximate amount of expenses on the list. You don't need to take extra money with you - it will burn your hands, and you will definitely spend it.
And lastly, allow yourself the right, even at the last moment, to change your mind and refuse an unnecessary purchase, no matter how seductive it is.
