What are complexes and where do they come from

A lot of people have complexes, including the most famous celebrities, millionaires, Nobel laureates, etc. Depending on the variety, the complexes cause problems of different severity. So, some people who have complexes about their appearance miss the chance to arrange their personal life, others ruin their careers, others do not feel like full-fledged members of society, etc.

To more accurately understand where the complexes come from, it is worth considering the definition of this concept given by the famous scientist K. G. Jung. According to Jung, complexes are an emotionally colored set of attitudes, motives and ideas that are formed unconsciously and that have a serious impact on human behavior and the functioning of his psyche.

The motives, attitudes and ideas mentioned by Jung are the fertile food for the cultivation of complexes. A person throughout his life is in society, communicating with other people. From the moment a child realizes his own "I", the first bricks can already be laid in him - the foundation for a particular complex.

Many complexes originate precisely in childhood. For example, such an innate character trait as modesty can be perceived by others, including those closest to you, as a disadvantage that they criticize and try to eliminate. Realizing the very fact of his guilt, the kid does not understand what exactly he is to blame. So his problem becomes deeper, takes root in the child's psyche. In order for an inferiority complex to form, sometimes several situations are enough that painfully affect the human psyche.

The risk of the emergence of a particular complex depends on the degree of susceptibility of the human psyche, in other words, the vulnerability of his soul. Two people may react very differently to the same words. Anyone from whom they evoke a vivid emotional response - fear, regret, sadness, resentment, may subsequently acquire some kind of complex.

How to get rid of complexes?

To get rid of complexes, it will take a long and painstaking work on yourself and your worldview, attitude towards yourself and other people. First of all, it is worth analyzing which particular complexes bother you and whether they have a right to exist.

Starting to fight the complexes, it is worthwhile to outline a plan for their destruction, develop a whole strategy, determine the ultimate goal, highlight what your victory will give you, and also outline the means for attacking the prevailing negative stereotypes. Do not strive to get rid of complexes in a couple of days, it is unlikely that something will come of it. It can take from several months to several years to change self-esteem, it depends on your personality traits.

Keep a diary in which to write down your daily successes, break a large task into several sub-points, use the method of small steps to achieve your goal. Remember, in order to really change something, you do not need to revel in self-pity and blame the world around you for everything. Just try to get better, improve yourself.

If, for example, you don't like your figure, sign up for a gym or pool. If you are unsure of yourself due to your low income, try to retrain and find a new job. Remember, everything is in your hands - to get rid of complexes and become more self-confident, you just need to start moving in the right direction.
