The most popular persons in 2014 were Vladimir Putin (12.5 million mentions), Viktor Yanukovych (2.9 million), Petro Poroshenko (2.7 million), Barack Obama (2.05 million) and Yulia Tymoshenko (1 million) … And what did you talk about most often on Vkontakte?
The first place was taken by the Winter Olympic Games, which took place in Sochi in February 2014. The triumphant victory of the Russian team literally blew up Internet resources, bringing the XXII Olympiad to the top - it was mentioned in one way or another 56, 2 million times. The fourth line of the chart, like the first, shows the great interest of the inhabitants of the Russian Federation in sports. The FIFA World Cup, which was won by the German national team, was the object of intense scrutiny by many netizens, who posted 11 million public messages about the FIFA World Cup.
And one more political event closes the top - the annexation of Crimea. Web surfers registered on Vkontakte have mentioned the referendum that took place on the peninsula and the consequences of this act more than 10 million times.
