There are many people who find it difficult to communicate. Especially if there is a need to speak to a stranger or speak in front of a large audience. They are seized by fear, they are subconsciously sure that they will make a mistake, say something wrong, they will laugh at them. Therefore, they prefer to remain silent, not to enter into conversations, which is why they are often considered arrogant arrogant. And this only aggravates the situation. How to get rid of this fear?

Step 1

First of all, try to understand that your fear is not based on anything. You are not surrounded by evil ill-wishers who are specifically waiting for your mistake in order to laugh at you, but ordinary people, just like you. And as for possible mistakes, even geniuses are not immune from them.

Step 2

To make sure you don't get into embarrassing situations, engage in conversation when it comes to things that you are well versed in. In such cases, the likelihood of error is minimal, and knowing this will give you confidence. The fear will gradually subside, and you will be able to maintain a conversation on almost any topic. If you find it boring or hard to understand, limit yourself to short, neutral phrases. The main thing is not to be silent.

Step 3

A very good way to overcome your fear of communication is to act on the principle of "knocking out a wedge by a wedge". Since you are intimidated by the need to talk to other people, literally force yourself to do it. Contact with questions to the seller in the store, to the ticket clerk, to the employee on duty in any administrative institution. Try to strike up a conversation with anyone: a neighbor walking the dog, a colleague at work, even if you don't really like him, a random fellow traveler in a train car, etc. Let it be just two or three short phrases, on the most neutral topics, for example, about the weather. You will soon see that talking to strangers is not scary at all. After that, you can already move on to longer conversations.

If you're still having a hard time communicating in reality, try to overcome your fear with phone or Skype voice calls. Without seeing the interlocutor, it will be easier for you to get used to the idea that there is nothing terrible in a conversation with strangers!
