In the memory of the audience, there are always two key points about the speaking orator, musician or musical group: the beginning and the end of the performance. This is why it is important to make a good impression from the start.

Instructions

Step 1

Smile. Even before reading a scientific paper, greet the audience with a gesture of affection and good mood. First, you will win over your listeners and let them know that you need their attention; secondly, you will give the impression of a confident person who can tell something really worthwhile in an interesting manner.

Step 2

Reach out to the public. In this case, the universal terms are “ladies and gentlemen,” “dear viewers,” “dear friends,” etc., depending on the context. Musicians can use the name of the city or venue in which they perform. Scientists address their students by position. It is important to preserve at the same time (and further) a sincere smile and a desire to share important information for the audience.

Step 3

Say hello and introduce yourself. There is no universal formulation here, just as there are no two identical speeches. In any case, you can give your name without excessive pathos and theatricality, but musicians must invent a trick, a small motive, by which they will be recognized always and everywhere. Such a trick must be rehearsed in advance so that there is no breakdown at the time of the performance.

Step 4

Talk a little about abstract topics. If you are not the first to speak, praise previous speakers or musicians by expressing solidarity with them on some issues. At the same time, after a few seconds, emphasize your difference from them. Describe how your performance will stand out from the rest. Indicate the title of your work (for musicians) or the topic of the report (for scientists)

Step 5

Say the first words of the talk or start singing the first song. Be relaxed, radiate self-confidence. Do not be afraid of mistakes, hesitations, conspiracies: all this will be necessary, but if you do not focus on your own flaws, almost no one will hear or perceive them. Use vigorous gestures, but not too hard. Be clear to your audience.
