Autism is a disorder that results from abnormal development of the brain. According to the theory, some lobes develop less in an autistic child and others more strongly, in comparison with ordinary children. This manifests itself in a violation of the social interaction of a sick child with others and difficulties in communication.

Step 1

Autism is usually diagnosed when a child is two to three years old. It is difficult to detect this disease earlier. After all, an autistic person can be both quiet and calm, and aggressive towards others. And only with age it becomes noticeable that he is afraid of harsh sounds, refuses to play with other children, does not allow himself to be patted on the head and hides from his mother under the bed.

Step 2

Diagnosis of this disease is rather difficult. For a long time, autism was not considered a disease at all, and schizophrenia was attributed to children with its manifestations. Brain scans do not show any significant differences from the brain of a healthy person. Doctors can only watch the development of the baby.

Step 3

There are four groups of autism. The first is the hardest. It is impossible to break through to such children, they are completely absorbed in their world. Patients do not respond when they are called. You can work with them for several years, but there will be no improvement. And now most often such children are subsequently diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Step 4

The rest of the groups are in descending order of severity. A child belonging to the second group may be interested in things from the world of people. So, he can play with pleasure with the constructor, add cubes and sometimes even kick the ball. If specialists work with such children from an early age, they will be able to move to the third and fourth groups, which means they can adapt to life in the “real” world.

Step 5

It is believed that autistic people, despite their isolation from the outside world, have abilities bordering on genius. This is partly true. It is the autists of the third and fourth groups who can sometimes redraw Rembrandt in the smallest detail, masterly play musical instruments and easily guess passwords to secret databases. However, such abilities are not given to everyone. According to American statistics, about 50% of autists in their level of development are no different from oligophrenics.

Step 6

Autism in the West has not been a death sentence for a long time. People with this diagnosis go to college and work. Of course, in the overwhelming majority this is working remotely at the computer. For example, programmers with this diagnosis are worth their weight in gold, because they are able to learn such computer languages in a day that are beyond the control of an ordinary person.
