Resentment is a feeling of self-pity. Sometimes tears come from the feeling of injustice. Along with this, there is anger at the one who dared to hurt so seriously. But the result of experiences is usually only pretty spoiled nerves. The ability to overcome resentment can help preserve your health and not waste time.
Instructions
Step 1
Try not to take criticism or a joke against you with hostility. Understand that not everyone around is able to observe the fine line between humor or tactful expression of their thoughts and rudeness. The person who offended you does not always understand that he did not do very well. And if he did it deliberately, then there is no need to get excited at all. In the first case, it is worth being above all sorts of nonsense and not paying attention to them. In the second, you need to be aware that the offender expects a reaction from you: tears, anger, a surge of negative emotions. Your indifference will be a complete disappointment for him.
Step 2
Learn to defend yourself. This does not mean at all that the struggle must be physical. You can also stand up for yourself with a word. Wit is a good defense against those who want to offend you. Imagine the bewilderment of an ill-wisher when, instead of phrases interrupted by sobs, he hears a calm, dignified answer. Surely you will experience satisfaction from the current situation and, perhaps, the unpleasant sensations will evaporate. But even if a sediment remains in the soul, do not make it a tragedy. There are often situations in life that are not enjoyable, and the best way to keep your nerves safe is to just try to forget.
Step 3
Switch to positive emotions. Suffering from injustice is a very useless pastime. Why feel sorry for yourself when you can get distracted from gloomy thoughts? Meet your friends, go to a party. In general, do not dwell on the problem, otherwise you risk starting to mope. A small resentment can turn into a major depression.
Step 4
Look at things easier and don't forget about your sense of humor. Filter incoming information. After all, it so often happens that people are offended by little things. If you take seriously only what really deserves it, then there will be much less unpleasant moments in your life.
