In general, there is nothing reprehensible in jealousy as a common phenomenon in interpersonal relationships. This is a common reaction to some kind of action on the part of your partner or partner. But sometimes this behavior is a sign of a pathological condition with which psychiatrists work - delirium of jealousy.
What is delusion of jealousy?
In medicine, delirium of jealousy is called the pathological belief of a man (less often a woman) that he (or she) is being cheated, violating the duty of fidelity. Most often, cheating is understood precisely as a sexual relationship with another partner, but in some cases, serious problems arise about relationships at the platonic level.
It has not yet been precisely established what is the reason for the development of such a condition. Scientists consider the main factors influencing the appearance of delusions of jealousy, emotional disturbances, problems in the sexual sphere, as well as alcohol dependence.
Delirium of jealousy usually develops in men over 40. Everything can start with the usual suspicions and nagging, grumbling. Against the background of emerging problems with alcohol, the sexual possibilities of a man are limited, which leads to emotional disorders. A man checks his partner's personal belongings, monitors phone calls. If the partner begins to explain, this leads to an illogical conclusion: "You are justified, then you are to blame."
Delirium of jealousy is a rather rare, but very dangerous condition. It is impossible to cope with such a pathological disorder on your own. A person prone to delirium of jealousy is even capable of killing. To maintain family relationships and not endanger your own life and the life of your partner, you need to see a psychiatrist.
Signs of delusional jealousy
You can recognize delirium of jealousy and distinguish it from ordinary jealousy by several signs:
1. Jealousy has no specific reason. The expression "jealous of every pillar" fully characterizes the pathological jealous person. Moreover, a certain object, with which a partner could potentially change, often does not exist.
2. The consciousness of a person, seized by the delirium of jealousy, is completely seized by the illogical thought of treason. Any actions and words of a partner are built into his own logic. A person with delirium of jealousy cannot be persuaded, no logical arguments can be given.
3. This pathological condition arises on a painful basis. A person who is prone to delusions of jealousy has other emotional disorders. Therefore, such a person can be identified by external signs: painful behavior, appearance.
