Everyday activities, other projects and colleagues rarely allow you to stay focused on an important matter for long. As a result, mistakes in work, lack of time and accumulated fatigue. To avoid this, it is important to learn how to concentrate as much as possible on the task at hand.
Instructions
Step 1
To focus as much as possible on an important assignment, you must take your mind off other tasks. If there is an opportunity to forget about them for a while, do so. If not, try handing them over to someone else or, if they don't take too much time, try to do them yourself as quickly as possible.
Step 2
Get rid of all irritants. Turn off your phone or put it on silent mode. Ask your coworkers not to disturb you for a certain amount of time. Play music if it helps you focus. It is best to use compositions without words. If any thoughts bother you, you also need to get rid of them. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
Step 3
Optimize your time so that you have as many minutes as possible for an important assignment. Set yourself a deadline and quality criteria. At least roughly imagine how the assignment should be carried out. This will allow you not to be distracted by unnecessary reflections or checks. Just be sure to coordinate your ideas with the management to avoid misunderstandings. If possible, ask someone to help you, transfer a number of responsibilities to other employees.
Step 4
Use the maximum immersion technique. Its essence lies in the fact that for a short time you put in 100% of the effort to achieve the goal. This usually takes 15-30 minutes. During this time, you are engaged only in the task and are not at all distracted by extraneous matters and irritants. Then rest for a few minutes (usually 5-10) and repeat the dive again. This allows you to concentrate as much as possible on the assignment and significantly increases work efficiency.
Step 5
Brief meditation will allow you to focus more on your work tasks. Close your eyes and monitor your breathing for 5-10 minutes. If unnecessary thoughts begin to appear in your head, just cut them off and watch your breathing again. At first, you can say "inhale-exhale" to yourself, but then give up this too. A similar exercise, for example, is often used before meetings by Japanese employees.
Step 6
Train your concentration constantly. It resembles a muscle: the longer you concentrate, the easier it becomes. Therefore, try to use the previous recommendations not only for performing important tasks, but also for other matters. This way, you can make the most of your effort when you really need it.
