One of the reasons people bite their nails is economic. Very often, according to research by psychologists, nails are bitten while shopping. This is due to the fact that it is at this time that a person is tormented by the torment of choice. Also, adults can bite their nails while solving their financial problems, thinking about the economic situation in the country, as well as when worried about the fate of their relatives and friends. There is a theory that the habit of biting nails comes from the family, i.e. is hereditary. They associate this with the fact that the child, observing the parents, subconsciously gets used to the sight of an adult biting his nails. Accordingly, it becomes the norm for him. He thinks that nothing bad will happen if he chews his fingers. Self-flagellation is also the reason for this habit. Psychologists regard this behavior as a surge of aggression towards oneself. In this way, a person punishes himself for any wrongdoing. In some cases, the habit of biting nails is based on a physiological reason. If a person's nails often exfoliate or break, it is easier for him to bite off the damaged tip than to take manicure tools and fix the situation. It also happens that this procedure acquires a scale, and then a person tries to "bite" his nail so as to give it the necessary shape. And, of course, one of the most famous reasons is stress. The origins of the habit in this case go back to the prenatal period of human development. It is in the mother's abdomen that the baby, experiencing feelings of joy, fear or anxiety, relieves stress by simply sucking on a finger. This is where the habit is formed on a subconscious level. Especially if the relationship with the parents is not very successful. In this case, the genetic memory returns a person to a time when he was absolutely safe. And it is necessary to solve the indicated problem only with a professional psychologist. The people around him make up the idea of a person throughout his appearance as a whole and on his hands in particular. Therefore, it is imperative for an adult to fight such a habit that personally does not bring him anything good.
