The word "ego" is often associated with selfishness, such negative qualities as arrogance, arrogance. Someone even tries to fight him. But this is not an easy task, because the ego is a set of distinctive features of a person, by which those around him identify him among other people. Character, behavior, habits, principles, knowledge, skills, desires, goals - if you remove all this, it seems that there will be no man left. If by ego we mean an excessive obsession with oneself, then something can be done here.
Instructions
Step 1
Usually a person is focused on himself from morning to evening. Whatever he does and whoever he is with, mentally he always solves his problems, makes his plans. It is natural, the world is so arranged that everyone lives by their own desires and interests. To diversify your life and expand your perception, try to pay more attention to the people and objects around you. Walking down the street, do not look at your feet in thought. Better take a look at the passers-by, mentally describe them, think about what they can do and how they live. Pay attention to your surroundings - streets, trees, sun, animals. You will notice that you were able to forget about yourself (and about your problems at the same time) for a moment. In addition, this exercise helps you to better understand other people and improve communication.
Step 2
Do not divide the world into "I am not me", "mine is not mine." This distinction is often arbitrary and relative. Such perception can limit thinking, creativity, does not allow seeing new opportunities and responding to them. Such internal censorship, like a filter, filters out everything that is "not yours" in your mind. The tendency to think in stereotypes and be guided by once established standards closes a person from development; it just prevents him from finding himself. Mentally allow into your personal space what you previously thought was unacceptable for yourself, and follow the sensations - they may be interesting.
Step 3
Stop identifying yourself only by public labels. Such labels can be “graduate of a prestigious university”, “employee of a certain company”, “owner of a car of a certain brand”, “husband”, “mother of three children”. These are just particles, separate aspects of your personality. In fact, there are many more of these roles. And they can change, and you yourself can change. Try to feel your real self. You would be yourself even with a different name, in a different country, in a different environment. This is the core of the personality, which in many ways resembles the ego, but not analogous to it. After all, the ego is changeable and impermanent. But this is an integral part of any person.
