When we have a planned meeting with a stranger or an evening in an unfamiliar company, then we are all a little worried and do not feel very confident. This is quite understandable - a person always treats everything unfamiliar with caution. If you care about how new acquaintances will perceive you, then you start thinking about how to present yourself in order to please. Don't worry, there are a few tricks to help you.
Instructions
Step 1
When meeting, demonstrate openness and friendliness, identify yourself, briefly introduce yourself. It is not necessary, if this is a company, to greet everyone personally, just nod and smile. If leading and clarifying questions follow, answer them, but try to avoid unnecessary details.
Step 2
Take a look around the company, observe its members for a while, take a closer look at how leaders behave (and there are such leaders in any, even fairly homogeneous team). Listen to the topics that interest them, if you have something to say about them, then take part in the conversation, trying so far to report only the facts, and not express your opinion if you have not been asked.
Step 3
Do not stay away from the preparation for the event for which the company has gathered. Offer your help or just start participating by joining yourself. Usually, at such moments, there is unity with the members of a collective that is still unfamiliar to you.
Step 4
If you don't remember the names of those around you, it doesn't matter. It will not offend anyone if you then ask again those people with whom you will begin to communicate. During communication, try not to touch on controversial topics, do not touch politics and beliefs, avoid categorical statements and assessments.
Step 5
React to jokes, even if they do not seem very funny to you, support the conversation with responses, demonstrate your willingness to contact. But do not show undue interest, do not react violently, behave with restraint.
Step 6
Do not sit on the sidelines, waiting for an invitation to collective entertainment and activities, take part in them and do not miss an opportunity to get to know each other better. But do not allow yourself to be familiar or patronizing. We hope that our tips will help you present yourself correctly in any situation and become a full member of any company.
