In any social group, those who have decisiveness and know how to take responsibility for themselves enjoy the greatest authority and respect. Nobody wants to deal with an infantile person who is not able to take responsibility for his words and deeds. Can you learn to take responsibility in the most difficult situations?
Instructions
Step 1
Analyze your life situation. It makes sense to work on yourself if you yourself are acutely aware of the lack of responsibility. Reproaches of loved ones and their "good" wishes are often just a reflection of the desire to shift the responsibility onto your shoulders.
Step 2
Define a range of situations in which you want to learn to take responsibility. Attempts to be responsible for literally everything that happens in the life of your family and in the work collective is the most direct and shortest path to neurosis. Being responsible means that you have the ability to manage this or that situation. But there are events on the outcome of which, with all your desire, you cannot influence. In this case, your words "I am responsible for this!" can turn into an empty phrase.
Step 3
Start taking control of the most basic household and work situations. It could be making a big purchase decision, changing your family's lifestyle, or completing a demanding production assignment. Take the initiative. Invite your spouse or wife to repair the apartment together, taking on the most difficult stages of the work. Contact the management with a request to appoint you in charge of the corporate event.
Step 4
Performing any task, strive to ensure that the end result is under your control. Check the quality of your work at every stage, not letting things go by themselves. Do not try to shift responsibility for mistakes to others with whom you work. This is especially true for those who perform the functions of a leader, are a leader in a family or other social group. Responsibility assumes that you are responsible for the result, regardless of contrived circumstances.
Step 5
Learn to deal with feelings of fear. It is the fears that you may not cope with the case and will be censured that often become the reason for avoiding responsibility. Choose tasks that challenge you.
Step 6
Work to build self-esteem and remove dependence on the opinions of others regarding your personal and business qualities. Self-esteem and the ability to take responsibility for what happens in life are very closely related. Someone with a sense of responsibility usually has an independent character and leadership qualities.
