An attentive interlocutor will be able to determine his mood by the eyes of a partner, even read his thoughts. But for this you need to be not only observant, but also to show empathy.
Pupil size
When a conversation is underway, the interlocutors meet with glances, look at each other. If the conversation partner avoids often looking in the eyes, or he is not interested in continuing the topic, or is hiding something.
A sidelong glance is often used to convey interest. In most cases, it is accompanied by a slight squint and a raised eyebrow. But if there is anger in the eyes, this is a sign of hostility or suspicion.
It is good if the conversation is conducted in daylight. Then you can observe the pupils. They fully convey the mood of a person. If the interlocutor is in a great mood, the pupils dilate four times. With a decrease in mood, they decrease to "beads".
Pupil location
When solving important issues with the interlocutor, you can not even peer into his eyes, but simply try to observe the location of the pupils. This will help to determine in which plane the consciousness is at a given moment in time. In other words, to determine whether the truth is being said, another lie is being invented, or the person simply temporarily dropped out of the conversation.
If, during communication, the interlocutor says something, lowering his eyes down and turning them to the right, his consciousness remains in the past, fishing out memories from there. But when the gaze is directed up and to the right, then there is a process of planning, presenting a picture of the future, analysis. When looking to the right side, the situation is analyzed at a given moment in time, without moving into the past or future. The person is “here and now”. When deciding important questions, choosing an answer, a person often looks to the right side horizontally, as if concentrating.
If the interlocutor looks to the left, he is trying to tune in emotionally. The left side of a person is responsible for emotions. That is, when the gaze is directed downward to the left, the partner can remember emotions, dive into them. But looking up and to the left suggests that the interlocutor is simply thinking, plunged into the "digestion" of emotions.
If there is a frank conversation, the human gaze can often move. By where the gaze moves, one can determine not only the mood, but also the train of thought.
In Soviet times, intelligence officers and KGB officers were taught to look at the bridge of the nose of the interlocutor. This made it possible to create the feeling that a frank conversation was being conducted, in fact, secret thoughts remained closed from the interlocutor. This technique can be used by any person if he does not want his thoughts to be “read” in a frank conversation.
