To be indifferent means to relate without unnecessary emotions to what is happening around. Indifference allows you to perceive the world like a movie or a TV series, to rely on reason, and not on emotions.
Instructions
Step 1
To be indifferent, you need to abstract or distance yourself from your own “I”, or divide yourself into “I” -observer and “I” -actor. It will take an effort to develop the observer in oneself, but it is in every person. In a general sense, this is the part of your personality that makes sure that your behavior conforms to social norms, the part that evaluates all your actions, and the part that simply observes.
Step 2
At first, it is very difficult to catch this part of your personality, for this you need to evaluate all your reactions to a variety of situations, track everything that is happening in your head in order to find this observer. Once you find this part of your personality, separate it from the whole, you can perceive the world as a movie.
Step 3
To merge with the “I” -observer, to perceive your life from his position, try to be less involved in the events taking place around you. Even if passions are boiling in you, do not release them right away. Control emotions with your mind, do not give them free rein. By learning to release emotions gradually, you can lessen their impact on you. At first this seems like a very difficult task, but imagine that your observer self is watching a movie in which you are just one of the heroes. Some people, in search of indifference, prefer to think that they are not watching, but making a movie, being both an actor and a director. Use your inner observer in difficult situations. Seeing emotions as if from the outside is much easier than perceiving them from the inside.
Step 4
If focusing on the observer-director isn't working for you, try a different approach. Don't divide events into important and unimportant. Try to treat everything as something transient, impermanent, unimportant on the scale of eternity. Count your
emotions are valuable treasures, a finite resource that is not worth wasting on trifles. Do not go too far with this, in the end, many people who have gone overboard with indifference cannot rejoice even on serious occasions.
Step 5
Austrian researchers believe that people who are completely indifferent to life almost never experience happiness. Of course, there are situations when indifference is the only way out, especially with regard to problems in your personal life, but it is still better not to give up emotions, since they are one of the important components of life.
