It is difficult to find a person who would not dream of being happy. But the concept of happiness is different for everyone. Is there a certain universal recipe that allows you not only to feel happy, but to experience truly boundless happiness? The answer to this question can be found in ancient oriental treatises.
Why are so many people unhappy? The reason is that happiness is conditional for them. Someone will say that they will be happy if they meet a loved one. For another, happiness lies in a prestigious high-paying job, for a third - in the opportunity to travel. There can be many options, and always for happiness a person needs to get something, acquire something, achieve something.
Unconditional happiness
Can happiness be unconditioned? Yes, many spiritual teachings speak of this. Moreover, only unconditional happiness can be truly boundless and inexhaustible.
The most important quality of unconditioned happiness is that it doesn't need anything to exist - it just is. At the same time, it comes from within and completely fills, floods a person. Such happiness only intensifies over time, which in itself seems to be something fantastic.
However, people who have reached this state claim that there is nothing fantastic or unusual about it. On the contrary, they believe that this is exactly the state in which every person is supposed to be. Some even argue that the notorious biblical Fall, after which a person was expelled from Paradise, is a veiled description of a person's loss of a state of original unconditioned happiness.
How to achieve unconditional happiness
It is important to understand a very subtle point: it is impossible to achieve unconditional happiness as a certain goal. The reason is that it appears by itself at the moment when a person gives up any aspirations and desires. It is born when a person realizes the illusory nature of all ordinary goals and achievements. This does not mean that people who have achieved boundless happiness become apathetic and cut off from life. They can achieve very, very much, but they stop attaching great importance to it.
What is the source of unconditioned happiness, where does it come from? This happiness belongs to the human soul. When all illusory goals disappear into oblivion, happiness gains freedom and comes to the surface - the burden of problems and aspirations no longer weighs on it. It is the interests of the soul that come to the fore, not the mind. And the soul rejoices in the very realization of being, of its existence. In addition, she is pleased with the beauty of the world around her. Happiness simply rises from the depths of the soul and overwhelms a person.
The key to unconditional happiness is being aware of the moment. Try to look around you without thinking about anything or analyzing what you saw. You look, you see, but you do not analyze what you see. Try to move your fingers in this state - watch how they move, feel your movements, but do not think about what you are doing. You can try walking around in a state of thoughtlessness, performing some simple actions - for example, cleaning the house, washing dishes, etc.
Of course, the mind will actively protest - it is not used to being idle. Thoughts will appear again and again in consciousness - you don't need to fight them, you just need to notice them and return to silence again.
Why is all this needed? Having achieved inner peace, having learned at least temporarily to be in a state of inner silence, you will one day feel how pleasant this silence is. Gradually, it will begin to become your natural state, the mind will be included in the work only when it is really needed. And then, at some point, you will begin to feel powerful waves of happiness rising from the depths of your being. They will appear more and more often and become more and more powerful, until one day you feel yourself in a boundless ocean of boundless happiness.
