For quick memorization of names and effective memorization of foreign words, the techniques of mnemonics (or mnemonics) can be used. Mnemonics is a set of methods and techniques for storing information for a long time.
Remembering names
1. When a person told you his name, try to remember a friend with the same name, and then draw an association between a new acquaintance and an old acquaintance, or with an actor, singer, writer. When there is an associative reinforcement of a name, it is much easier to remember.
2. Pay attention to the new name. Think about it. Try to remember several variations of this name and match the image of a new acquaintance with these variations. Think about the letters that go into the name, the first letter of the name. It will not take more than 5-10 seconds, and the name will be strengthened in the memory for a long time.
3. Mentally print the name on a piece of paper, tracing each letter. Or indeed, after meeting with a friend, write down this name. It doesn't matter where, in your work planner, which is always at hand, or on a sticker that you immediately throw away. The main thing is that while we are writing a name, we think about it and focus on it, moreover, visual memory works, so that the name should be firmly remembered.
Memorizing foreign words
1. The method of phonetic associations. You need to choose a foreign word that is consonant in Russian. I used to be very confused about the words walk and work. You can pick up a phonetic association: walk - wolf. And come up with a vivid, memorable phrase with the found word: work is not walk, walk is "walking".
2. The method of interaction of all sensations. This technique is very helpful in spoken English, when you need to quickly find and remember the right word. Do not think about how a foreign word sounds in Russian. Try to visualize the image of the subject. For example: bread - bread. Associate this word with warm bread, with its aroma, imagine cutting this bread for breakfast. With the help of such associations, the word will pop up in memory much faster, because phonetic associations can be confusing.
